How can it be a fast if there is food?
A fast can be no food and just water or elimination of certain choice foods for a period of time devoted to prayer and contemplation.  The Daniel Fast is a popular fast loosely based on the story of Daniel in the Old Testament.   It is a short-term, 21-day vegan diet that allows vegetables, fruit, grains, cereals, legumes, beans, nuts, a few oils and water.   It helps in gut healing and to reset the microbiome.

Why do the Daniel Fast?
Interrupting our normal eating patterns can be the prompt to pray for things we want to change.   Even if physical health is your big issue, it definitely will have a spiritual component.

"But I can't eat grain."  No problem, simply eat those things you CAN eat and enjoy eating.

"I need more protein.  This sounds too high carb."  I get that, I had that concern.  But you would be surprised how much protein is in foods like lentils and quinoa.   I have found that after the adjustment period of 3-4 days, I was full with a modest meal, often only wanted 2 meals a day and steadily losing weight!

Is there a charge?
No.  You may be part of a Daniel Fast at your church or even in a paid group.  That's fine.  This is a free private group for sharing recipes, encouragement & victories only.  I'll also have resources to help make things a bit easier along the way.
